Breaking News….

Murphy Volunteer Fire Department received notification from the US Department of Homeland Securities Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program on 12-29-2008 of a grant award to replace a tanker.  The tanker which will be replaced was originally built by members of Murphy Volunteer Fire Department along with Tri-County Community College in 1984 and was put on a 1969 NC Department of Transportation surplus chassis.  This truck was refurbished in 1996 and was remounted on a 1990 GMC chassis which was acquired from a fuel delivery company.

This new tanker will not only benefit our primary response district but will respond automatic aid to 6 fire districts and will be available for mutual aid to 7 additional districts.
